Description: Instituted in 1960 as Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal. Acquired its present name and became a " deemed university" in 2002. NITs are patterned after the IIT's. Usual admission requirements are the higher secondary school certificate, representing 12 years of education, and the All India Engineering Entrance Test (AIEEE).
