Description: Created by merger of three previously existing institutions: Northwest Institute of Architectural Engineering, Xi'an Engineering University (former Xi'an Institute of Geology), and Xi'an Highway University (former Xi'an Institute of Highway Transportation). A "211 Project" school. The 211 Project is aimed at forming a series of high quality higher educational institutions. These schools generally have the most prestige, the best students, and the most government funding. Usual admission requirements are completion of senior secondary school (12 years of education) and a national entrance examination.
