Description: Instituted in 1908. Four constituent colleges: University College Cork, University College Dublin, National University of Ireland, Galway and National University of Ireland, Maynooth. Also five "recognized colleges." Usual admission requirements are the leaving certificate (11 years of education) and the university matriculation examination.
