Description: Instituted in 1992 as an independent graduate school to provide training in western market-based economics. Faculty were initially drawn from visiting professors from the west and the United States but as more western trained economists have returned to Russia school has added Russian faculty. Funding was also provided by western foundations. Admission requirements are a competitive entrance examination and a four year first degree from any country within the former Soviet Union.
