ABOUT THE LANGUAGES AND CULTURES OF ASIA PROGRAM
Admissions to this program is being reopened for students starting in the Fall 2018 semester. The application is open now. The department offers instruction in the languages and cultures of Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Southwest Asia, as well as comparative studies of the religions of these areas.
Note: The M.A., Ph.D., and doctoral minor will be changing to the name "Asian Languages and Cultures" effective for students starting in the Fall 2018 semester. The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures offers new interdisciplinary M.A. and Ph.D. programs. Students may also design their own courses of study that take advantage of the many opportunities on campus to do in-depth research on Asia from multiple disciplinary perspectives and across the traditional area studies divisions of East, South, and Southeast Asia.
